BLS expresses condolences to the family, relatives and colleagues of Prof. Vanya Nedkova
Bulgarian medical union expresses its deep condolences to the family, colleagues and relatives of Prof. Vanya Nedkova - an expensive friend, a beloved colleague, a distinguished scientist and a dedicated doctor.
On August 22, 2021 in a clinic in Germany, a long struggle with treacherous and rare disease died Prof. Dr. Vanya Nedkova, reported by Medical University-Pleven.
The academic community and the medical profession lost an expensive colleague, a doctor and an outstanding lecturer. With his professionalism, humanity and dedication, Professor Nedkova will remain forever in the hearts and the thoughts of thousands of Bulgarian families, whose children helped.
We recall that Dr. Nedkova's friends organized a campaign for her treatment in Hanover, which included the Bulgarian medical union.
In 1976, Prof. Vanya Nedkova graduated from the Medical University in Varna. It passes through all the steps of the university career at the Department of Children's Diseases - Pleven - Assistant (1978-1982), Senior Assistant (1982-1990), Chief Assist. Since 2002 he has been chosen as an associate and from 2013 - for a professor. There are recognized three majors: Pediatrics (1982), medical genetics (1996) and child gastroenterology (2006).
Since 2002 he has been the head of the Pediatrics Department at Mi-Pleven and Head of the Pediatrics Clinic of the UMBAL "Dr. G. Stranski" - Pleven.
The scientific interests of Prof. Nedkova are related to the exceptional breastfeeding and nutrition of children, cystic fibrosis, genetic diseases. Together with a collective of Chemistry Department at Me-Pleven explores trace elements in many childhood diseases - gastroenterological, hypertension, asthma, anemia, autism and others.
Prof. Nedkova is a lecturer of medical students, ergotherapists, nurses and midwives, author is about 100 scientific publications in magazines, participated in national and international conferences and congresses. He is a member of the Academic and Faculty of Faculty of Me-Pleven, chairman of the Scientific Council on Medical-Therapeutic specialties to MU-Pleven. For more than 15 years he has been a member of the Board of the Bulgarian Pediatric Association.
