We create the Balkan Medical League
The first step towards the creation of the Balkan Medical League, which will include doctors several countries, including Bulgaria, Serbia, Greece and Turkey, was made at the conference "Medical Error and Rules for Good Medical Practice", which is organized by the Sofia College of the Metropolitan Board BLS and Bulgarian Medical Union.
The establishment of the Balkan Medical League is planned for March next year in Sofia, when other countries will be invited to join the organization.
Specialists from Bulgaria, Serbia, Greece, Turkey and other countries will exchange experience, knowledge, will hold regular meetings and training of young doctors.
At the framework of the conference "Medical Error and Rules for Good Medical Practice", the chairman of the Bulgarian Medical Union, Dr. Ivan Madjarov, said that the doctors were debtors of the Bulgarian society and thanked the Sofia College for the initiative for the conference with international participation. Dr. Madjarov added that by neglecting all the problems, such as low pay, dissatisfaction and others, the initiative appeals with one common problem, namely the phenomenon of medical error.
"Both patients and doctors are aware that our profession is called to save, but there is something rotten. I expect the conference to be a strong signal to all companies in specialties, because we are debtors to Bulgarian society and colleagues-doctors, since we have not fulfilled our professional role, to give these rules and to be obligatory, "said Dr. Madjarov.
According to him, the class should not be ashamed to punish the one who has violated the rules.
Vice President Iliana Yotova congratulated the participants in the forum and said that society was talking about medical errors from the point of view of patients and seemed to forget how doctors, medical establishments were experiencing this event. She drew attention to the lack of a register of so -called "medical errors" and dilemma doctors - rescuers or victim doctors.
The Conference "Medical Error and Rules for Good Medical Practice" brought together the chairmen of the professional organizations of Greece, Serbia, representatives of Turkey, chairmen of regional medical and ethical committees, hospital directors, lawyers, journalists.
